Stephanie Mucci- Principal

Stephanie Mucci began her educational career as a paraprofessional in a self-contained special education classroom. There she found a passion to help students find the tools they needed to succeed, despite their physical barriers. She subsequently graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood education. Mrs. Mucci spent the majority of her teaching career teaching in a rural, title-1 school district where she taught 2nd grade and Kindergarten. It was here that she found her passion to help all students succeed and also took on various leadership roles, including PTSA president. This passion led her to complete her Master's degree in Educational Leadership through Arizona State University’s iLead program. Upon completion of her principal internship, she moved into administration serving as Assistant Principal overseeing academics and curriculum at a local high-performing charter network. The following year, she moved into the principal role and humbly served the campus for over 4 years. With over 10 years of experience in education, Mrs. Mucci continually strives to help all learning communities excel as scholars. Mrs. Mucci is excited to for the Night Hawk community as Principal.

Melody Ray - Assistant Principal

After earning her B.S. in Elementary Education in 1993, Melody Ray began her career teaching elementary grades in her home state of North Carolina, where she spent 24 years in the classroom. In 2018, she made the move to Arizona, teaching 5th grade ELA at AMS Desert Sky. Then she returned to the lower grades where she spent several years as a third-grade lead teacher.

In 2025, she earned her master’s degree in education from Northern Arizona University and went on to serve as Dean of Academics and then Principal at a public Classical charter school in Peoria.

With more than 30 years in education, Ms. Ray remains passionate about providing every scholar with a high-quality education while nurturing the heart and character of each child. She is committed to high academic standards, character development, and helping students grow into confident, contributing members of their communities. When she’s not at school, Ms. Ray enjoys cooking, baking, and spending time with her dog, Piper.

Kyra Shields - Assistant Principal

Kyra Shields serves as an Assistant Principal at the Academy of Math and Science, where she is committed to creating a positive, supportive, and academically focused environment for students, staff, and families. She brings experience in school leadership, instructional coaching, student support services, behavior systems, and family engagement.

In her role, Kyra supports teachers with instructional practices and professional development, oversees student behavior and intervention systems, and works closely with families to ensure scholars receive the academic, social, and emotional support they need to be successful. She is especially passionate about building strong school culture, strengthening relationships between home and school, and helping educators create classrooms where every student feels safe, supported, and challenged to grow.

Kyra believes that strong schools are built through collaboration, consistency, high expectations, and genuine relationships. She is proud to serve the AMS community and looks forward to continuing to support scholars, families, and staff throughout the school year.

Lawrence Brew - Head of Operations

Lawrence Brew is a seasoned Operations Manager with over 20 years of experience in workforce, project and facility management. Known for his effective communication and meticulous attention to detail, Lawrence excels in coordinating cross-functional teams and delivering innovative solutions that drive organizational growth and efficiency. Lawrence is originally from the Midwest and is a detailed oriented professional with 20+ years of Operations experience and a United States Army veteran. He is dedicated to staying at the forefront of industry trends through ongoing professional development. Outside of work, Lawrence is passionate about mentoring emerging workforce team members and contributing to community service projects.
